Seven main trade unions are calling for a stronger social dimension of government policy in a joint statement following the results of the legislative elections. According to the seven unions, “the results of these legislative elections are a signal and an alarm”, in an allusion to the rise of the far-right. The secretary-general of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), Sophie Binet, wrote on X that “the social demands of employees must be met as a matter of urgency: the pension reform must be repealed, wages and pensions must be increased, and resources must be provided for our public services”.
